BTC Pajama Party Raises Funds
BTC may have closed the curtain on its highly successful fall production of Les Misérables just before Thanksgiving, but that doesn't mean they weren't busy. There was plenty of new material presented at the Holiday Fundraiser that was held on December 18 at the BTC Studios, raising over $3,000 for the school's Scholarship and Capital Improvements Funds.
This year, the fundraiser took the form of a pajama party, and most attendees - yes, including the parents - got into the spirit by attending in all manner of sleepwear.
The evening featured several exciting holiday performances by the Ensemble students, including a song sung by our Artistic Director, Fiona Santos. Performances ranged from full ensemble numbers to solos, duets and other small student groups, drawing on material from A Christmas Survival Guide.
Throughout the evening, various fundraising activities were taking place, including slot machine style rub-off cards, bingo, beverage sales, and raffles featuring a number of donated items. Raffle items that generated the most excitement were "My Favorite Things" bags created by co-Artistic Directors Fiona Santos and Jason Brantman, and Administrator Liz Haydock.
The evening finished with a number of open mic performances, in which anyone with a song to sing or a dance to dance (and a bit of money to pay) was invited up on stage to dazzle the crowd. And dazzle they did! With about a dozen performances, we all got to see that talent runs deep in the BTC community.
